Buy truck, get AK-47
The owner of a Missouri dealership is giving away free AK-47s with the purchase of any truck. Wow, any things to sell a car. I know that the auto industry is in turmoil but this is ridiculous.
Gay is not the new black
Editor's note: LZ Granderson is a senior writer and columnist for ESPN The Magazine and ESPN.com, and has contributed to ESPN's Sports Center, Outside the Lines and First Take. He is the 2009 Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) award winner for online journalism and the 2008 National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association (NLGJA) winner for column writing.
LZ Granderson says criticism of President Obama by the gay community has gone too far.
(CNN) -- Far from flowing rainbow flags, the sound of Lady Gaga and, quite honestly, white people, stands a nightclub just outside of Wicker Park in Chicago, Illinois, by the name of The Prop House.
The line to get in usually stretches down the block, and unlike many of the clubs in Boystown and Andersonville, this one plays hip-hop and caters to men who may or may not openly identify as gay, but without question are black and proud.
And a good number of them are tired of hearing how the gay community is disappointed in President Obama, because they are not.
In recent weeks, one would have thought the nation's first black president was also the nation's biggest homophobe. Everyone from Oscar winner Dustin Lance Black and radio personality Rachel Maddow to Joe Solmonese, the president of Human Rights Campaign, the country's largest gay advocacy group, seem to be blasting Obama for everything from "don't ask don't tell" to Adam Lambert not winning American Idol.
In their minds, Obama is not moving fast enough on behalf of the GLBT community. The outcry is not completely without merit -- the Justice Department's unnerving brief on the Defense of Marriage Act immediately comes to mind. I was upset by some of the statements, but not surprised. (After the Tuskegee Syphilis Study, President Ronald Reagan's initial handling of AIDS and, more recently, Katrina, there is little that surprises me when it comes to the government and the treatment of its people.)
Still, rarely has criticism regarding Obama and the GLBT community come from the kind of person you would find standing in line at a spot like The Prop House, and there's a reason for that.
Despite the catchiness of the slogan, gay is not the new black. Black is still black. And if any group should know this, it's the gay community.
Bars such as The Prop House, or Bulldogs in Atlanta, Georgia, exist because a large number of gay blacks -- particularly those who date other blacks, and live in the black community -- do not feel a part of the larger gay movement. There are Gay Pride celebrations, and then there are Black Gay Prides.
There's a popular bar in the heart of the nation's capital that might as well rename itself Antebellum, because all of the white patrons tend to stay upstairs and the black patrons are on the first floor. Last year at the annual Human Rights Campaign national fundraiser in Washington, D.C. -- an event that lasted more than three hours -- the only black person to make it on stage was the entertainment.
When Proposition 8 passed in California, white gays were quick to blame the black community despite blacks making up less than 10 percent of total voters and whites being close to 60 percent. At protest rallies that followed, some gay blacks reported they were even hit with racial epithets by angry white participants. Not to split hairs, but for most blacks, the n-word trumps the f-word.
So while the white mouthpiece of the gay community shakes an angry finger at intolerance and bigotry in their blogs and on television, blacks and other minorities see the dirty laundry. They see the hypocrisy of publicly rallying in the name of unity but then privately living in segregated pockets. And then there is the history.
The 40th anniversary of Stonewall dominated Gay Pride celebrations around the country, and while that is certainly a significant moment that should be recognized, 40 years is nothing compared with the 400 blood-soaked years black people have been through in this country. There are stories some blacks lived through, stories others were told by their parents and stories that never had a chance to be told.
While those who were at Stonewall talk about the fear of being arrested by police, 40 years ago, blacks talked about the fear of dying at the hands of police and not having their bodies found or murder investigated. The 13th Amendment was signed in 1865, and it wasn't until 1948 that President Harry S Truman desegregated the military. That's more than an 80-year gap.
Not to be flip, but Miley Cyrus is older than Bill Clinton's "don't ask, don't tell." That doesn't mean that the safety of gay people should be trivialized or that Obama should not be held accountable for the promises he made on the campaign trail. But to call this month's first-ever White House reception for GLBT leaders "too little too late" is akin to a petulant child throwing a tantrum because he wants to eat his dessert before dinner. This is one of the main reasons why so many blacks bristle at the comparison of the two movements -- everybody wants to sing the blues, nobody wants to live them.
This lack of perspective is only going to alienate a black community that is still very proud of Obama and is hypersensitive about any criticism of him, especially given he's been in office barely six months.
If blacks are less accepting of gays than other racial groups -- and that is certainly debatable -- then the parade of gay people calling Obama a "disappointment" on television is counterproductive in gaining acceptance, to say the least. And the fact that the loudest critics are mostly white doesn't help matters either.
Hearing that race matters in the gay community may not be comforting to hear, but that doesn't make it any less true.
The opinions expressed in this commentary are solely those of LZ Granderson.

Your in-law problems -- how to fix them
Address it directly. While you may be tempted to enlist your husband, in this case it's often better to respond to your mother-in-law directly, since your husband may not feel that this is a battle worth waging and thus may avoid the discussion altogether, says Terri Apter, Ph.D., a psychologist at the University of Cambridge, in England.
Be honest. If housekeeping isn't a priority for you, go ahead and tell her, say Liz Bluper and Renée Plastique, the pseudonymous authors of "Mothers-in-Law Do Everything Wrong: M.I.L.D.E.W." But if her complaints seem unsubstantiated or become an incessant refrain, there could be deeper issues at work.
"What seems like a small point may not be," Apter says. "She may not just be saying, 'There is too much dust here,' but implying that you're not the kind of woman you should be." Real Simple: What to say in awkward social situations
Before you tell her where she can stick her dust bunnies, though, keep in mind that she may be unaware of the problem. "People often don't realize that what they're doing is hurting someone," says Beverly Freid, the creator of Motherinlawstories.com, a support-group Web site that has 50,000 visitors each month.
Clue your mother-in-law in, Freid advises, by saying something like, "I truly appreciate your concern, but you might not realize that you're hurting my feelings when you make comments about the dusty bookshelves."
Separate the sides. In this case, it may be best for you and your husband to talk to your own sets of parents separately. Tell them that you understand that they're not going to be best friends with the other couple but that it will make you and your husband happy if they can at least be civil.
When it comes to social settings, it may be better to keep them apart than to deal with the stress of potential bickering. Consider the size of the gathering: If it's a small holiday dinner, you might celebrate on two separate nights. Bigger parties should have enough people that both sets of parents can avoid each other.
But keep in mind that they are all adults, even if their behavior suggests otherwise. If it's an important event at which you'd like them to all be present -- your son's first birthday, say -- you can't, and shouldn't, take responsibility for them. And if you're given an ultimatum ("If they're coming, we're not"), simply reply, "We'll miss you."
Your husband's father upsets him
Support your husband. It may hurt you to see your father-in-law repeatedly say upsetting things to your husband, but your first reaction shouldn't be to snap back in your husband's defense. Talk to your husband first and offer support. Then, presenting a united front, the two of you should talk to your father-in-law and lay down some ground rules: "We don't want you to say these things. If you do so, you won't be allowed to visit."
In situations where your husband and his father aren't talking at all, play diplomatic mediator. "Don't attack," says psychologist Pauline Wallin. Ask your father-in-law for permission to discuss it first: 'Would it be all right if I talked to you about something?' People are more apt to listen when you ask permission first."
Start your own traditions. When your in-laws visit for the holidays, they expect you to embrace all their traditions, rather than your own. But if the festivities are at your house, you get to make the rules. It's thoughtful to try to incorporate some of their traditions into yours, especially if there are children involved who could benefit from learning different ways of celebrating. But it's your home, and your in-laws should respect that. Gently communicate this to them beforehand so there are no surprises.
If they spoil your children
Establish spending limits. Make sure your in-laws seek your approval for any big-ticket items. Enforce these boundaries by setting up consequences for occasions they're violated. If your in-laws are bent on giving your children something outlandishly expensive, for example, tell them it will go to charity if they bring it against your wishes.

Where my ladies at????
You know how women complain about how there are no good men out there? Well I’m starting to feel the same way regarding women. I’m sure I will catch a lot of slack for this or even end up on the couch tonight but that’s okay, I have the heat generated by my TV an Xbox to keep me warm tonight. I’m taking one for the team.
To be totally honest with you, I haven’t broken my neck in a minute. I’m not switching teams or even considering being traded. Never!!! Just don’t care like I used to. At first I though, well maybe I'm just growing up, but that’s not it. Maybe its because my girl's hella bad and I’m not humping around so that could be it. Is it my diet? Am I losing testosterone? Nope, none of the above. I’m not different, women are.
The things that I used to find sexy about a woman or like about a woman are disappearing. I couldn’t imagine dating. This is my dilemma. Women are like dudes now. Talk and act like dudes now too. Some even look like dudes too but that’s another story. Because of this, some women loose their appeal. That feminine touch is gone. I’m not saying wear an apron and be in the kitchen, because that’s wack. I love a strong woman who is a go getter, so don’t confuse me.
There is a an on and off switch that I notice stays on more than it does off and some women's switch is broken. What ever happened to the smiles and nice warm personalities? I know that we men are partial to blame and i can understand that, but its too much.
I even discussed this with several women and got pretty much the same thing. Women feel liberated and empowered now a days as well as equal and in some cases superior to men so it like role reversal. More power to y'all, hey my mother's a woman too but turn it down a notch. Now its an abuse of power.
In order for a dude to get in (not your draws) good they have to get over the wall of China which you've built up then through hoops of flames. Granted, you must protect your heart but at what cost? Women date with a strategy and from a defensive point of view. Do what you gotta do but when you ask yourself why you have no man, look in the mirror. There needs to be a balance. Remember bitch is a derogatory word not something to aspire for. All that attitude is ugly.
At the end of the day, remember, we love y’all, just tone it down a notch. Strong women, professional, hardworking, educated women are sexy. Just remember, its not a completion. Go watch tough love on VH1, some of y’all need a reality check. If you have a better explanation for me, please let me know.

Manny Pacquiao proved why he's considered the best pound-for-pound fighter Saturday night (May 2), when he KO'd Ricky Hatton in the second round during their junior welterweight title bout.
At the end of the fight, the Filipino superstar connected with a devastating left cross to the head, leaving the British brawler dazed and confused on the canvas. Referee Kenny Bayless took one look at Hatton and called the fight at 2:59 of the round.
Knock downs were the theme for this round and a half of boxing. After cautionously figuring out Hatton's constant forward moving, Pac-Man began to unleash punch flurries, before dropping Hatton for the first time midway through the first round.
It was when Hatton cocked back to throw a left that Manny Pacquiao saw his opening. He followed immediately with a punishing right hook to the head, catching Hatton right on the chin. After the fight, both Pac-Man and his trainer Freddie Roach said the hook was executed exactly how it was practiced in the gym.
"Every time Ricky throws his left hand, he pulls it back and cocks it, and he's wide open for a short right hook on the inside from the South Paw stance," said Roach in the post interview. "We worked on that every day in the gym, the timing shot. It just worked beautifully."
"That's the right hook," Manny explained, while watching playback of the first round knock down with HBO's Larry Merchant. "We study that every day in the gym. If you see the [HBO's '24/7'], I throw a lot of hooks in the training. So, that's why he's very surprised on that style."
Despite the quick knock down, Hatton rose at the count of eight, but Pac-Man landed yet another flurry and dropped him once again right before the bell ended the first round.
Both fighters exited to their corners, and went back to it in round two, but Pacquiao was just too fast and powerful for Hatton to handle. The pride of the Philippines sized up the British fighter for one last big punch. It was a right cross that Hatton never saw coming, leaving him flat on the canvas.
"I'm surprised the fight was kinda easy. For me, I consider the fight is hard because he can punch. He have a strong left hand," a humble Pacquiao said.
"That's what was our strategy -- the one punch hook by hook. Left hook and right hook, that's gonna be the key to this fight."
Although Pacquiao was a 2-1 favorite over Hatton, many predicted that Hatton would be Pac-Man's toughest opponent to date. Manny had to come up in weight to meet Hatton at 140 ponds. Some wondered if his power would be enough to hurt Hatton who has a reputation as a tough and aggressive fighter who wears his opponents down.
He stood no chance against Pacquaio though.
After the devastating knockout, Hatton rose from the canvas several minutes after doctors tended to him. He walked back into the locker room without a post interview.
It was the second loss of Hatton's career. His only loss prior, came at the hands of Floyd Mayweather Jr., who KO'd him in the 10th round of their fight in December 2007.
Pacquiao's victory comes on the same day Mayweather announced his return to the ring, by way of a July 18 fight against Juan Manuel Marquez. With Pacquiao's lopsided win over Hatton, many predict a match with Mayweather is next. That is, if he wins against Marquez this summer.
When asked if Mayweather is the man he'd like to face next, Pacquiao said it's all in the hands of the promoters. "I can fight anybody. It depends on my how my promoters negotiations are. I'm just a fighter, doing my job training, and keep 100% in the fights."

Is it really a rap???
“Sad news is spreading that Kelis and Nas’ marriage is no more—this time, for real. Apparently, Miss Milkshake is fed up with this QB dude’s verbally abusive and cheating ways. Let us not forget, ole girl is seven months preggars. Smh. We at Rap Radar hope these crazy kids can work it out, but it’s not lookin’ good. If all goes as planned, Kelis should be filing for divorce very soon. Damn shame!”
Verbally abusive ways?** Yeesh. Verbally abusive to a expectant mom? Double Yeesh. Well, I’d like to know Nas’ side of the story as well. But either way….it sounds like separation is for the best. I feel like 2 happy separate parents make for a better childrearing environment than 2 unhappy together parents.I did think they made for a very handsome couple.
Banks responds to Officer Ricky
"As far as calling out Eminem, you're not in the top 10 lyricists nowhere," Banks said. "So just sit down, man. We seen what Em can do. Em's in a whole 'nother lane. How do you go from praising somebody in one interview to calling him a 'monkey' in the next? He's been in out of pocket too many times. We'll see where his future goes. It doesn't look too bright, if you ask me." Said Llyod Banks.

Eminem's back like he never left
I heard this song on the radio the other day and didn’t really get it but then I saw the video and fell in love with it. Really, I did. Im sick of the the slow moving, well dressed people pretending to look cool. Thanks Em for breaking the monotony. By the way, is it just me but does Ashton Roth sound like a young Em (not as good, but not bad)?

Ten things not to do at the club
1. Buy her friends drinks
2. Walk around with an empty cup
Sign of being broke. If you wanted to keep the fact that you are broke, sip slow.
3. Dance with your man's girl
Not cool, especially if there is drinking involved.
4. Wear silk
Tacky, clingy, corny, ugly, old school, need i say more?
5. Fall asleep
If you worked a double shift or suffer from narcolepsy, just call it a night.
6. Not have enough money at the door
If you know you didn't bring enough money, stay your ass home or go to the spot that's less poppin down the street and spare yourself the embarrassment.
7. Drink a stranger liqueur when the walk away from the bar
You might think you got away with it and no one saw you but you are not that slick. Someone saw you and you are being talked about.
8. Ask a man to buy you a drink (ladies)
Quench your own damn thirst. Its a recession, get your own Neuvo.
9. Spend the rent (car note, child support, mortgage, etc.)
Come on, 4 hours in the club is not worth an eviction notice or a repoed civic.
10. "I can show you better than I can tell you"
I thought she was at a baby shower, but nope. At the club sipping. Don't let this be you.
Practice your stink face in the mirror before you go out and get your girlfriend's approval.
Don't be mad when the next dude comes behind you trying to dry hump you in the club. You set the tone.
Just go home.

Muggsy Malone Artist of the week
Martin Jackson aka Muggsy Malone has journeyed the footsteps of many men. From wearing the adolescent shoes of a motherless child to later wear the boots of an U.S Army solider, to now where he is walking in the shoes of the next hip hop icon. When one asks who is the man that speaks the words “If I can’t do it, it can’t be done” people learn the story of a rookie turned champion. Addicted to music at the tender age of 9, Muggsy used music as a drug.
Malone began to perfect his craft, adapting to what he call’s the Michael Jordan practice theory. Jordan, like a lot of young kids was one of his role models. He read in his book Hang Time of how he practiced and shot free throws every single day of his career and applied the same thing to music. So, the aspiring artist committed himself to 16 bars a day. Today, he houses over 40 practice journals of “Hot 16’s since the late 80’s. Muggsy pure addiction for music is a concrete foundation for the acronyms of his name. What those close to him say is a verbal representation of his life struggle “Motivation You Gain Grinding Surviving Yesterday”. Coming into his own man at the age of 17, Malone made the decision to join the U.S Army, where he was stationed in Korea and at Fort. Hood. Notably serving his country during 9/11 he was discharged in 2002 to return home.

The Latest On Chris Brown and Rhianna
Chris Brown may have gotten lucky because the charge he was booked on is kinda weak, but he's still in big trouble, and Rihanna says it's not the first time he's attacked her.
Sources say the Los Angeles County District Attorney kicked the case back to the police for further investigation because evidence that he made criminal threats against Rihanna is kind of thin. Our sources are quick to say he will, however, almost certainly be charged with felony domestic battery, a lesser offense but still serious.
Here's how it went down, according to the police report. After Chris received a text message from a woman who wrote about getting together, an argument erupted. By the way, initially, Rihanna would not tell cops what started the argument.
She did, however, tell them that during the argument, he started hitting her. According to the police report, she ordered him to drive her home and "faked a call" to someone, saying things like, "He's dropping me off. Make sure the cops are there."
Rihanna told cops the fake call enraged Brown. He said something to the effect of "You are really fu**ed up now. I'm going to kill you." This statement is the basis of the criminal threats charge.
At that point, according to the report, Brown allegedly began a violent attack with his fists. At some point, Rihanna took the keys out of the ignition and threw them outside.
And there's this. According to the police report, she told cops this was not the first time Brown hit her. She referred to it as an ongoing and escalating abusive relationship.
We're told the criminal threats charge is based on that one statement Brown allegedly made. As one law enforcement source told us, "It's kinda weak, and the D.A. is not going to prosecute a high profile case like this unless it's solid." That's why it was kicked back for further investigation.
Given the brutal nature of the attack, which the photos clearly show -- contusions on the face, swollen eyes, cut lip, bloody nose, bite marks on fingers and arm -- a felony domestic battery charge is virtually a done deal. That, however, is a less serious offense than making criminal threats.
Lil Cease A Letter to BIG Video
Cease, I love BIG and no disrespect to the late great when I say this but, that song was weak. Where's your own BIG tribute song? Why does it take a movie and Kiss to put out a song for you to put out a joint? Should have let kiss write it for you, would have been better. I don't know this guy but I just don't like him. The lil ninja turtle just don't seem real to me. I shouldn't be so bias but I gotta speak my piece on this one. What do you think?

Officer Ricky -VS- Curly
Just keeping you up to date on this 50 / Ross beef. 50's in the lead right now but Officer Ricky is in denial. I'm not picking sides but when you cant come up with something better than calling someone a monkey and swaggerless, you are out of ammo. I am thoroughly entertained by 50 Cent's antics.
You can tell that 50 doesn't take Ross seriously at all. Straight comedy.
Its a blow out. I don't see Rick Ross coming back. Game over.
51st Grammy Awards
I didn't get a chance to sit down and watch to 51st Annual Grammy Awards last night but thanks to YouTube and my trusty DVR, I'm never out the loop. I must admit, this year, hip hop represented and we represented. With Weezy taking the rap album of the year award and ever memorable swagger like us performance, i had no complaints.
Tip Harris tour it down as well with the assistance of white chocolate, Justin Timberlake.
For being 42, Jigga man still got it. Seen here tearing it down with Coldplay.
Jennifer Hudson did her thing and looked good doing it. Brought the audience to tears when she took it to church on them.

Lil Wayne's Interview With Katie Couric
. "I smoke because I am a gangster and I do what I want... I drink lean (codeine, which is giving him an ulser) but I am not addicted." said Weezy. Very Bobby and Whitney of him, don't you think? Your president is black and he's gotten us this far. Why take two steps forward and three steps back. I don't get it. Might sell you more records but there are kids out there who want to be a weed head, "gangsta," that too want to do what they want to do. I used to say parents are the blame but kids listen to Wayne way more than they listen to their parents. Whats really good? I cant respect him on any level.
